Welcome

Co-sponsor LogosCharrette - an intensive time-limited session in which a diverse group of experts brainstorm solutions to a specific problem.  Creative thinking is highly encouraged.

In November 2007, the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) led a three-day charrette in Cambridge and Boston, MA on Advanced Energy Efficiency Strategies.  Related to the ongoing efforts of the Cambridge Energy Alliance, the charrette’s purpose was to identify new and improved ways to significantly increase energy and water efficiency and reduce waste.

The participants were a highly skilled and multi-disciplinary group of experts who brainstormed together to identify new, cutting edge technologies, operational practices, innovative devices and maintenance ideas, all aimed at taking efficiency to the next level.

Also, participants helped identify specific subject areas for the Boston Innovation Challenge that the Barr Foundation is launching, in which prizes will be offered for outstanding energy saving solutions proposed in specific areas.

The charrette report, detailing and analyzing all the brainstorming work, is now posted on this site, and we would like your feedback.  RMI, the Barr Foundation, Kendall Foundation, Harvard University and MIT invite your thoughts and ideas on the report, including what was missed, and how to take these important ideas to implementation.  Let’s work together!
